Charles Collins grew up in Mobile, Alabama, and earned his B.S. in sports management from the University of South Alabama, where he was a four-time letterman in track and field, throwing the javelin. Southern Alabama is also where he developed his love for glassblowing. He went on to earn an MFA in sculpture from Houston Baptist University.
Mr. Collins began his teaching career at Western Academy in Houston, Texas, where he was the director of fine arts and physical education coach for grades 3 through 8. He was also the head coach for track and field and an assistant coach for football. He also worked at Glassblowing Houston, where he further developed his skills in glass manipulation.
After seven years at Western Academy, Mr. Collins moved to Philadelphia to pursue a career in glassblowing at John Pomp Studios. At John Pomp Studios he assisted in the making of glass light fixtures, chandeliers, and furniture pieces. In addition to glassblowing, Mr. Collins enjoys pottery, painting, drawing, and cooking. He also likes to explore new and exciting dining experiences with his fiancé, Scarlett.
