Hiking, camping and playing music and games with his daughter and wife

Justin Mohler earned his B.A. in German language and literature from Colby College in 2009. While living and working near his hometown of Seattle, he received his master’s in German studies from the University of Washington in 2015 and his Ph.D. in 2022. As a scholar of the environmental humanities, Dr. Mohler’s interdisciplinary research has allowed him to travel extensively throughout Germany. He has studied at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and, in 2018, received a research grant from the German Academic Exchange Service to support his work in the field of animal studies at Goethe University in Frankfurt.

Dr. Mohler’s teaching experience spans more than a decade and ranges from secondary schools in Austria to higher education programs in Hong Kong and throughout the United States. His early career in education was supported by multiple grants from the Fulbright US Teaching Assistantship Program, and he has been fortunate to advise and train a great number of gifted students of all ages in their pursuit of similar opportunities. He is a passionate advocate for the study of the language and culture of German-speaking countries and is thrilled to be a part of the vibrant community at St. Paul’s School.

In addition to his research and pedagogical interests, Dr. Mohler enjoys hiking and camping throughout the Northeast, as well as playing music and games of all kinds with his daughter, Zoe, and his wife, Nadia.
