Pottery, travel, photography, handicrafts and shinrin-yoku
Hailing from Williamstown, Massachusetts, Meg O’Connor earned her B.A. in theater and English at Wesleyan University and her M.A. in directing at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. She has worked as some combination of artist and educator ever since.
Before coming to St. Paul’s School, Ms. O’Connor created award-winning theater programs at several independent schools where she helped students achieve artistic excellence while building skills in empathy, communication and creative problem solving. She believes the skills needed for theater serve students no matter what field they ultimately pursue.
A former education artist at Shakespeare & Company in the Berkshires, Ms. O’Connor was the director of Shakespeare & Young Company, an intensive summer training program in classical theater, while also serving as an artist in residence for area schools. She has worked professionally as an actor, costume designer and playwright whose scripts have been performed across the United States.
Ms. O’Connor’s interests include pottery, travel, photography, handicrafts and shinrin-yoku — a Japanese practice that involves spending time in nature, particularly forests, to improve health and well-being.
