St. Paul’s School made history in 1882 by building the first squash courts in the United States.

Today, the Big Red plays on 10 international courts with state-of-the-art amenities that include a fully integrated scoreboard system, wireless mic and sound system, live streaming of all home matches and film archive for match analysis, and two ball machines and an electric constant-pull stringing machine.

St. Paul’s boys and girls teams of roughly 25 athletes each play a competitive schedule each season against the best teams in New England and beyond, including at the High School Nationals. SPS squash teams have won 11 New England team titles and 11 individual New England titles; Big Red alumni have won three college individual national titles and seven U.S. Squash national titles. In addition to the McLane Squash Courts, our athletes have access to the School’s  98,000 square-foot LEED-certified athletic center, which includes a fully equipped cardiovascular room and a state-of-the-art weight training room. Athletic trainers are on hand for every practice and game to ensure the health, well-being and development of every student-athlete.
