Scott Heitmiller with students at Seated Meal

Good Food and Fellowship

After more than 18 months, Seated Meal returns
The students wore casual clothes and workout gear instead of dresses and sportscoats, but there was conversation and laughter aplenty when SPS reintroduced a modified version of Seated Meal to the community during the week of November 7. A longtime staple of life at St. Paul’s School, Seated Meals were suspended in early 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. After an absence of more than 18 months, the decision was made to reintroduce the custom in phases, focusing first on creating connections among students and advisers, who enjoyed a buffet meal at assigned tables in the Upper Dining Room. Future Seated Meals may include a return to formal dress, but for now, students and faculty members alike appreciated the opportunity to come together for a good meal and some lighthearted fellowship. Judging by the ready smiles, the first Seated Meals of the year were both effortless and enjoyable.
