OUR PHILOSOPHY

At St. Paul’s, athletics are much more than an extracurricular activity; they are an extension of the classroom, providing opportunities for students to set goals, learn new skills, and gain exposure to the community of a team.

Students are encouraged to try out for sports in which they are competitive, but the vast athletic offerings at St. Paul’s create opportunities to compete at both the interscholastic and club levels, depending on the skill and interest of the individual athlete. The structure of the varsity and junior varsity levels allows students to progress through the program while learning new skills and gaining experience. The club sports system provides healthy competition and camaraderie at the intramural level.

Interscholastic teams meet four days a week for afternoon practices, while competition days are primarily reserved for Wednesdays and Saturdays. St. Paul’s is a member of the Six Schools League. The School prides itself on its work ethic and sportsmanship while striving for athletic excellence.

GO BIG RED!!

Athletic News

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Cole Sias- Nordic Skiing
Cole led the Big Red Nordic girls to second place in the Lakes Region League. As the only racer with experience prior to SPS, Cole has played an instrumental role in teaching her teammates to ski and race. The team's success is largely due to her efforts.

Cal Schrupp- Nordic Skiing
Cal led SPS Boys Nordic to a second place finish in the league championships. As an individual, he finished third in the league standings for the season.

Ryan Peck- Boys Varsity Hockey
Fifth former Ryan Peck has been finding the back of the net recently for the boys’ hockey team.  A pair of goals against Thayer Saturday were not quite enough as the team fell in a tough 4 – 3 loss, but Ryan did have the game winner in the clubs 2 – 1 win over St. Sebastian’s on Wednesday.  Ryan plays very well at both ends of the ice using his speed, skill and smarts in all facets of the game.  Keep up the good work Ryan.

Jax Donahue- Girls Varsity Basketball
Jax Donahue had 18 points in the SPS win against Govs on Wednesday. 17 in the Big Reds Eight Schools tournament win against Deerfield Friday night and 23 in a 2 point heartbreaker semi-final loss to Choate on Sunday.  Add to that playing some lock down defense in all 3 games made for a great week for Jax.  Congratulations.

The Boys JV Squash Team.
With their 6-1 win on Saturday over Brooks, the team finished their season with a 13-1 record. 7 of those team wins were 7-0 sweeps of their opponents. Their stellar season required each individual to contribute every match and at every practice. Their dedication provided SPS with one of the most successful squash seasons in some time.
