Capital and endowed gifts, provided through outright and planned gifts
, provide critical resources to help fulfill the School’s mission to challenge our students intellectually and morally – to nurture a love for learning and a commitment to engage as servant leaders in a complex world.
Capital gifts serve to maintain or enhance the School’s superb facilities. Recent capital projects made possible through generous alumni, parents, and friends include The Lindsay Center for Mathematics and Science, the renovation of the McLane Squash Courts, and the Bogle-Lechner Field (artificial turf). The 2009 Master Plan for St. Paul’s School provides a long-term outlook for facilities and capital projects at the School. Included are plans to relocate the visual arts to the academic quad and to renovate Hargate into a community center. Given the centrality of the School’s commitment to communal life as the context for intellectual rigor and discourse, as well as the goal of facilitating deeper interdisciplinary and cross-curricular opportunities for faculty and students, these initiatives are of particular importance to the School.
We are grateful to our alumni, parents and friends who have chosen to make gifts to the School’s endowment. In doing so, these donors leave a legacy of support at St. Paul’s. These gifts are an investment in the long-term financial health of the institution, with income from each of the School’s more than 600 endowed funds used in perpetuity to fund the SPS program. The principal is invested for long-term growth to serve present and future generations of students. Due to the generous support of our benefactors and careful investment and stewardship of their gifts, the St. Paul’s School endowment provides more than one-third of the School’s operating budget.
