SPS standout, American hockey legend born on this day in 1892
It’s been more than 100 years since hockey legend Hobart “Hobey” Amory Hare Baker, Form of 1909, skated on Lower School Pond, but his memory lives on in Millville. January 15 marks the SPS graduate’s 127th birthday. Baker, also a standout in football, learned to play hockey at the School and went on to star at Princeton on both the ice and the gridiron. It’s a game cherished by varsity and club athletes alike at the School who still lace up to skate on Lower School Pond when the New Hampshire winters freeze over the water.
