Family Weekend FAQs

Family Weekend is Oct. 15-16, and we hope you and your families — grandparents and siblings, too — can join us for an inside look at life at SPS and what your child has been up to. Programming will include a mix of in-person, virtual, and hybrid experiences. Below are answers to some of the questions we have been hearing.

  • Do I need to be vaccinated to attend Family Weekend?

    SPS asks guests, including our students’ families, alumni, and others, to follow the Visitor Policy to ensure the health and well-being of our entire community.
  • What time should I arrive?

    There is no specific time that you must arrive. Review the Family Weekend Schedule to see what is available to you over the weekend.
  • Do I need to register for the weekend?

    Yes, we ask that all families register to let us know if you will attend in-person or virtually. Please register all guests in your party. Registration will open on Monday, Sept. 27.
  • Where do I check in?

    Check in at Memorial Hall from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and at the Chapel Lawn from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday. Please refer to the Family Weekend Schedule.
  • Where do I park?

    Parking lots on the Campus Map are marked by letters A through G.
  • How do I schedule a conference with faculty/advisers?

    Your student’s adviser will reach out ahead of Family Weekend to schedule a conference that can be held via Zoom or at an outdoor location on the grounds. Meetings will be scheduled for Friday, Oct. 15, between 1 and 3 p.m. or Saturday, Oct. 16, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
  • Do I get to attend classes with my student?

    You will have the opportunity to attend an abbreviated schedule for parents virtually on Thursday, Oct. 14, starting at 8 a.m. Please register for Family Weekend to receive your class links. Students will attend their regular classes on Friday.
  • When will I get to see my child?

    You may meet your child whenever you arrive on the grounds as your schedule allows. Most families meet for lunch on Friday, share dinner, and attend the performing arts presentation on Friday night. On Saturday, you are free to depart following your student’s last commitment.
  • Can my student leave campus with me?

    Yes, though students should not miss commitments and must use the REACH system, as they normally do, when leaving the grounds.
  • What time can I take my student off grounds for the long weekend?

    Students are free to leave after their last commitment on Saturday, Oct. 16. Departing students must complete a REACH request by 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Learn more about the REACH system.
  • Will there be student bus transportation provided for Family Weekend?

    SPS will offer bus transportation for Family Weekend Returns ONLY. All buses will depart their respective locations on Tuesday, Oct. 19, according to the schedule. For more details and to sign up, please click here.
  • Can my child stay on campus for the long weekend?

    Yes, your child is welcome to stay on campus throughout the weekend.
  • Will there be an opportunity to learn more about volunteering?

    Yes. Parents@SPS will host a Kick-Off gathering Friday at 1 p.m. at the Friedman Community Center to provide information about parent volunteer and engagement opportunities.
  • Are there local accommodations?

    There is a variety of lodging options in Concord and the surrounding area. See the Visitors webpage for more information.
  • I have a few more questions. Who can I contact?
