Chris Smith joined the St. Paul’s School faculty in the fall of 2014 as associate director of admission and head boys and girls squash coach.
Mr. Smith spent the previous three years as the head squash pro at the Union Boat Club in Boston, Mass. Prior to that, he served as the assistant squash coach at Harvard University for four years. During that time, he helped coach the women’s team to a three straight national championship games, winning it all in 2010. Mr. Smith also coached the Harvard men’s squash team to the NCAA title that same year.
Other highlights include coaching Harvard squash to a women’s Ivy League title in 2010 and developing numerous All-Americans. Mr. Smith served as the vice president and president of the College Squash Association for many years. He was also the founding head coach at Northeastern University and led the new program to a top-20 national ranking in its first three years of existence. Mr. Smith has also coached the USA Jr National Team (2004-2006), which appeared in two World Junior Championships in his tenure. He is a member of the USA national training program, which coaches elite juniors all over the world in international competitions. Mr. Smith is active in national and local squash governing bodies and has dedicated his career to bettering the sport at all levels of play.
