The St. Paul’s School grounds are as they should be this time of year: full of student energy and the sounds of teenagers living and learning together as the 2025-26 academic year gets underway. Sixth Formers and student leaders returned on Wednesday, Sept. 3 for leadership training ahead of welcoming new students on Friday, Sept. 5; by the time classes started the following Monday, the newest members of the SPS community had already experienced First Night Service, Seated Meal, house meetings and chapel — not to mention getting to know their roommates, housemates and the 2,000 acres that are home to 536 students from 37 states and 30 countries this year.
After a full week of classes, afternoon activities, sports tryouts and preseason scrimmages, students turned their focus to fun during the first weekend of the School’s 170th academic session. A Saturday night game of capture the flag brought hundreds of students out to the Bogle Lechner turf field to kick off this year’s Club Cup Challenge and earn points for Delphian, Isthmian and Old Hundred. On Sunday morning, Coit Upper was buzzing as representatives from nearly 80 student clubs, societies and mosaic groups made their pitch to new and returning students curious about offerings from the Horae Scholasticae — the oldest prep school art and literary magazine in the country — to Pickleball.
