Below are some commonly asked questions about the application process. If you have any additional questions, feel free to call our office at 1-888-644-9611 or 1-603-229-4700, or email us at admissions@sps.edu

What if I want to make changes to my Candidate Profile/Gateway Part 1 after it has been submitted?
Feel free to email admissions@sps.edu with any edits or add-ons, including multimedia links, and we will adjust your application on our end.

Are there any essays required in addition to the short-answer questions/Gateway Part 2?
No, the only required writing assignment is completion of the four questions on the Part 2 Gateway form. These prompts were specifically designed to better understand your values as they relate to the qualities we deem important at SPS. We will see your more developed work through the graded writing sample and SSAT essay, if applicable.

What is the graded writing sample?
We would like to see a sample of a longer piece of writing that you have submitted to school this academic year. We encourage you to choose something you are proud of — it can be for any class, and should have some comments and feedback from a teacher. Don’t forget to complete the accompanying form where you will describe the assignment and name the course.

Can my teachers from last year fill out my recommendations?
The math, English and counselor recommendation forms must be completed by current teachers. If you are on a block system and have not yet had one of these classes, we can accept history or science. Teachers from prior years are welcome to complete the personal or special interest recommendations.

What if my semester grades are not available before January 15?
We understand — this happens at many schools. Please ask your school to send what is available, and then email admissions@sps.edu to let us know when we can expect them so that we can make a note in your file.

What is the final SSAT or ISEE test date that will be accepted?
We prefer standardized testing submission prior to the application deadline of January 15.  However, if you are retaking the test, feel free to send us any results from the month of January, and we will be able to consider these updated scores.
