We know where you will begin: with a broad array of courses covering every discipline — all designed to whet your appetite and help you define your interests for deeper learning. Where you go from there is up to you!

You’ll be surprised by what you discover here. It’s not unusual for budding engineers to be dancers and for those who love Humanities to also pursue higher math courses. The opportunities to explore and push yourself academically in a supportive community are rich and varied.  Everyone at St. Paul’s is here to help you find your individual learning path. Your advisers, teachers, the dean of studies and the heads of house work together to ensure that your academic program is what you want and need it to be.

Humanities

Hone your passion for inquiry through the Humanities curriculum. Explore the elemental questions of self and community in cultures from ancient Europe and Asia to colonial and Civil War America to the present day. Take the leap that connects early culture and modern-day thought across traditional boundaries through more than 30 electives that challenge SPS students to become engaged citizens and responsible leaders in an increasingly complex and globalized world.

Academics

Languages

Master the mechanics of Chinese, French, German, Spanish — and even Latin and Greek — and immerse yourself in the arts, traditions, and customs of the world’s native speakers. Teachers and technology work in tandem so that students acquire a global consciousness of the many ways of thinking and living in our world.

Academics

Mathematics

Math isn’t just a numbers game; it’s an adventure. Investigate, analyze, model, examine, and predict the use of real-world applications to illustrate and reinforce mathematical ideas. Master the basics through core courses – Geometry, Algebra 2, and Precalculus – and gear up to pursue Calculus, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Problem Solving and the History of Mathematics, and even design your own math program through Advanced Topics.

Academics

Sciences

At SPS, you’ll experiment, collaborate, and think and ask the questions that lead to profound learning opportunities. Build your foundation of scientific knowledge with courses in physics, chemistry, and biology. Progress to courses in astronomy — featuring The Hawley Observatory, home to one of the largest telescopes in New England — computer science, subatomic physics, molecular biology, and organic chemistry, as well as specialized electives in robotics and chemistry.
