ASP 2020 and COVID-19
Earlier this spring, St. Paul’s School canceled this summer’s ASP session on the School grounds. We did not make this decision lightly, as we understand how formative the ASP experience is for so many. But given the uncertainty of how large groups of people will come together safely over the coming weeks, it is not possible to run the program as usual.
Instead, we will offer an intensive, two-week online leadership symposium with a robust college-preparedness programming component. More than 100 rising seniors from more than 50 public high schools around the state have already enrolled to learn from New Hampshire leaders about what it takes to lead during times of crisis and change. New Hampshire leaders will address students via Zoom; students will break out into groups to work together on ideas; and students will work on their writing in multiple formats. In addition, students will receive personalized college counseling support in the form of interactive tutorials on the college application and financial aid processes and small-group college essay workshops.
Although this program will not replicate, either in content or length, the on-campus ASP experience, it does provide alternative summer enrichment for those ASP students who planned to be on the grounds this summer. We look forward to welcoming virtually this year’s ASP cohort on Monday, June 22, through Friday, July 3.
With thanks and best regards,
